About Us

Inspired by the legacy of my great grandfather Dautrive Gary, Dautrive App is designed to help Black Americans and other BIPOC groups who are targeted by racial profiling and police brutality. In just a click of a button, the app can potentially save the lives of those in distress. The app has 3 levels which automatically progress from recording audio to sharing a live location to family, friends, and community activists. Like Dautrive who once intervened when a Black woman was being attacked, the goal of Dautrive app is to use tech to combat police brutality.

Our Story

The year is 1895. There’s a young Black pregnant woman talking into a store in rural Southwest Louisiana. She’s going to pick up a few items for herself and her family on a hot, humid day. As she enters, she’s attacked. The attacker is a muscular white man. She tries to fight, but with her growing belly, his size, and her awareness of her perceived inferiority in the deep South, there isn’t much she can do. She grows hopeless as he continues his assault. She grows wearier and wearier but just has she begins to give up, a Black man, comes out of nowhere. He fights off the attacker, enabling her to flee. That man, was Dautrive, my great great grandfather. A hero.
